Church in Progress is all about creating spaces to connect with God and with one another. So, providing celebrant services is simply an extension of what Church in Progress is about.
Rev Emily Worman is a registered New Zealand celebrant who has experience in facilitating a range of family gatherings.
Weddings & Commitment Ceremonies
Church in Progress is part of Metropolitan Community Church which has a long history of fighting for marriage equality around the world. Rev Emily takes great pride in performing Christian wedding services for same-sex couples. She is also happy to perform non-religious ceremonies. No matter how you and your partner identify, Emily will ensure your day is a joyful and memorable one by creating the ceremony together.
Is it important to you that your child is christened? What happens if you are not connected with a local church? Church in Progress can help. Become part of the wider Church family and talk to Rev Emily about having your child christened in your own home.
Adult baptism are also an important part of many people’s faith journey. Church in Progress provides an excellent adult class ‘Jesus 101’ in which you can explore your next steps.
One of Rev Emily’s favourite rituals! Working together with the family Rev Emily will help you write the prayers which will serve to remind us that God is always present. House blessings are a wonderful way to celebrate a new home, but they can also be useful after a death or a traumatic event.
Name Changing Ceremonies
Changing one’s name can be one of the most meaningful steps for a trans or gender nonconforming person in expressing and validating who they are. Rev Emily can work with you to create a meaningful ritual (religious or not) to enable you and your friends and family to celebrant this significant milestone.
If you know Rev Emily and have a family funeral you need help with – get in touch.
Where can we gather?
Church in Progress does not own any property. Many of the ceremonies noted above can be held in your own home or in any venue of your choosing. Of course, many of these celebrations can be facilitated within the Church in Progress monthly gatherings.
What will it cost?
For those within the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu area or if you know Rev Emily personally, koha is appreciated (if able). Some of this money will go into Church in Progress funds and some of it will go towards Rev Emily’s time and travel.
If you live outside the area and wish to use Rev Emily for your wedding, she will talk with you about an appropriate fee for her services.
Remember you don’t have to spend a whole heap on your wedding to have a successful marriage 🙂
